I think that you may be right about the age of the article in relation to my current software. I could not get the steps in the article to work.

After some poking around, this procedure worked for me in MacOS 10.15.7 and Music 1.0.6.10. Feel free to offer it as an alternative solution to the article.

Bill

1. Copy iTunes folder from internal to external drive.
2. Open Music as you normally do.
3. Click Music at top left, then Preferences.
4. Click Files to get /yourinternaldrive/Users/myaccount/Music/Music/Media listed under Music Media folder location.
5. Click Change… and navigate to the folder where the iTunes folder on the external drive is located.
6. Music now gives this window with the updated path to the iTunes folder, e.g. /externaldrivename/iTunes.
7. Click OK.
8. Just to be sure that the relocation has worked, restart the computer.
9. Check that it worked by looking at the file info of any song.

I wonder if I am doing something wrong. Per the link that you sent, I copied my iTunes folder from my internal drive to an external drive. When I reopen iTunes while pressing the option key, I get the choose library option. When I click on the iTunes folder on my external drive, the only options that I get are cancel or choose, not the open option that the article suggests. I am using Music 1.0.6.10.
