Can’t download Pandora or Spotify due to restrictions

Hey everyone,

I have screentime enabled on my daughter’s phone. I have her content and restrictions set to 12+. She wants Pandora or Spotify, which are both rated 12+. However in the App Store, it says “due to restrictions enabled on this device, this app cannot be downloaded”.....

So I’ve tried changing her rating to 17+, turning off the “master” Content and Privacy Restrictions button, and several other setting changes, and nothing seems to affect this and allow either app to be downloaded.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well there's your answer. Changing the rating for downloads to 17+ doesn't change her age as her birthdate was required when you set up parental controls in ScreenTime settings. You can contact Apple directly, but if an app which is rated 12+ is not supposed to download on a device registered to a child who is not 12+.

I guess that makes sense, but if they’re going to do that unilaterally, then why is there a box allowing me to choose the rating that I feel is appropriate?
