iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

I don't think this has anything to do with glue. I have used the phone for two weeks now and the yellow has not changed. This is a screen calibration issue, which should be fixable with a software update. It probably is a challenge for Apple to find a way to know, which displays are defected and need the new calibration. The issue either applies to all or just one batch of screens from a certain manufacturer. If they cannot identify the defected screens, then they either have to make the fix a manual setting (not going to happen) or replace the phones.

i understand.

I’m looking for another phone.

no one could answer a simple question.

How is it that phones & IPods released prior have a better display?

The phone is dull, dim, unable to be brightened at all. In order for the background to lighten even slightly it means leaving all settings as if it were a new phone NO PERSONAL SETTINGS.

This is horrible @Apple #Apple apple.com

I agree with you!

I work with graphic design, illustration, photography, etc. and I am bothered by this warm screen issue. I already replaced it with a new iPhone 12 Pro and it’s the same problem!

I am considering to return it and purchase an iPhone 11, but I was just hopping there will be a softwear update that can address this issue.

It’s alot of money $1,000 for a phone that you will not be able to see the colors properly. I really hope this will get solved soon!

Hi all,

Many thanks for raising this issue. Unfortunately, I am also concerned...

Just had a quick chat today with Apple Assistance in France. The issue is well-known now but... they keep stating that it is a software issue and engineers officially recommend to play manually with color filters: Use display and text size preferences on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

They were unable to confirm if it will be fixed in the following iOS releases (it's not in the iOS 14.3 release notes...) and didn't want to replace my phone.

I sent back my 12 Pro Max earlier today. It's a great phone but the yellow screen is a massive flaw, specially for a device that costs £1200!

If Apple acknowledge the problem and fix I may buy it again. Otherwise - my iPhone X still works so will continue using that.

I get the feeling it's an oled issue. Aren't many manufacturers of those panels, Apple obviously has a problem with getting them right.

What worked for you Mizz-305?

Those settings are meant to offer a screen comparison with another iPhone to assess the level of warmness.

This is what the post above was all about, these settings are not changing the screen warmness in any way!

At this point, this is clearly an issue that most of us have, and I really hope it can be fixed with a software update.

Otherwise, I will need to hurry and replace this iPhone 12 Pro. I can't be spending $1,000 on a phone that is not showing the colors properly. What's the use of it and of an updated camera if the screen is yellow?

As emrego88 said: Apple must recognize this, or at least provide communication on acknowledgment and possibility to fix!

Yes, they very much needs to recognise this. I have sent in the second copy of an iPhone12Pro the other day, with it a picture of comparison from the store with a display model. Today I got a notification from the repair shop that they are sending me a new iPhone12Pro. So when it arrives it will be my third copy.

I hope the screen will be better on this one. But as you say, Apple really needs to recognise this. I cannot believe that I have twice been walking into a store to compare my samples with the display samples and with my own eyes clearly been able to see that my samples had yellowish/green/low contrast displays with all settings being the same.

Really, people need to return those samples. It is totally unacceptable. If I get a third one now with a bad display I might annul the deal and look for another phone.

Here is the feedback I wrote:

“I have worked my way through 3 iPhone12 pros now and they have all been unacceptable in terms of display colors and contrast. Displays on all samples has a yellow/green tint with low contrast rather than the neutral white and vibrant colors we know from other iPhones in the household. As a photographer I need a display that is neutral or very close to neutral when editing pictures on the fly on the phone. They need to be comparable to my color calibrated Cinema Display at my desk workspace. It is totally unacceptable for me and I plan now to return the phone and go back on the deal to get an older phone with a reliable screen. This is bad news for me as I purchased the iPhone12pro for reasons of making photo editing easier. This is not possible with a display that isn’t color neutral.”

I did not return mine Verizon was closed due to Covid so I could not return mine. I had kept my 11 promax when I upgraded this for my work phone. Although I do have AppleCare plus on both devices I don’t wanna have to use that for something that Apple knowingly will not do anything about. It is a defect in workmanship and materials and that is covered Under their limited warranty so all of these devices should be covered under the limited warranty and should be fixed for free. Whether Apple admits it or not. They need to start a repair program like they used to have for other devices such as the iPhone 7 with no cellular or so searching for service or the iPhone 6s with the battery issues or the iPhone 8 with the logic board issues there is a problem with the iPhone 12 and Apple needs to admit it and fix it.
