iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

I upgraded from the iPhone XR to the Iphone 12 Pro and had the exact same problem. Noticed it immediately after turning the new phone. I tried what people here are suggesting as far as messing with true tone setting and color filters. Those definitely didn't fix the yellow tint problem that everyone is describing.

I contacted Apple support and returned the phone to get a new replacement. It took them almost a full month to ship me the new phone. I could not book an appointment with the closest apple store to me because of covid restrictions, they have closed.

I just turned on the new replacement iphone 12 Pro, and guess what? Still yellow tint. . . . Seems like Apple has really botched this product launch. Will likely return it for a full refund and wait until next year to upgrade I guess.

This is a defect of the new Phone (and as far as I understand it's not happening to alla Phones); Apple Care doesn't change anything.

My suggestions are:

  • either you give the phone back, getting back the money, and wait for solving the issue;
  • or you wait a fix (they have to repair it).

Eventually with the same money of the apple Care I suppose you can give the phone back when the 13th is out next year.

I believe that this Covid thing is also helping covering this huge Apple mistake, because it's almost impossible go to the Apple Store and have a look to other phones making comparisons.

Even the most honest advice will not be able to take your preferences/feeling etc. into account as they do not know you well. The root cause of the problem isn't a wrong setting.

In the end, what you do in this situation, is your decision, you have to make it.

But you have plenty of options:

  • Ask Apple Support, they can make a suggestion.
  • Try the settings described by the discussion users.
  • Send it back, ask for refund.
  • Send it back, ask for replacement.
  • Get used to it (sorry)
  • Give feedback (but don't expect anything)

I read a lot about the possibilities. I tried multiple devices. Apple Support told me several times what they know about the situation (or what they are allowed to tell me about it), I made my decision.

@adeolaex I did get replacement from Amazon and this is exactly the same! Apple support told me I should have ordered from them to avoid such issues. So will probably return this and order from Apple directly. I am worried the one from Apple too will have this issue, but may not too. As there seems to be mixed varieties of iPhones with and without yellow display issue. Apple is going to take a week to 10 days for delivery. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Apple support actually told you that you "should have ordered from them to avoid such issues" regarding the yellowish tint issue?

This is effectively indirectly suggesting or indicating that Apple may channel Quality Assured units from manufacture and all other units with slight issues and tolerance exceeding flags would appear to be channelled to non-Apple outlets; as can be seen with the plethora of reported yellow tint problem from various iPhone owners.

I would advise that Apple (much to their disliking and resistance) consider a replacement program for all affected iPhone 12 Pro owners that are experiencing this particular problem fault. After all, spending such a large sum of money for their iPhone 12 Pro Max's (1,399 in my case) only to experience this ridiculous and unacceptable issue, is no joke and not a laughing matter.

Admittedly I couldn't decide straight away with the (begrudgingly) suggested option by the Genius support official at the Apple retail store, of having the screen changed/replaced. The genius support staff suggested it might not resolve the issue and I also felt that it might not address the issue if the replacement screen also possessed the same yellowish/urine tinted display. Thus it would only result in a merry-go-round nightmare and besides why should one have to hand the iPhone in to have it heated to melt glue-sealant, clean glue/sealant, then change the display and then re-apply glue/sealant in order to meet water resistance rating; only to find display has the same related issue (as with so many other owners) when instead Apple could very easily cause you no further anguish and stress already suffered, by quite simply replacing it with a new handset that is known by Apple to be free and devoid of the issue. After all the issue was present from day 1 out of the box - it’s the very least Apple could do.

Hello ,

i have exactly the same problem as i had been using iphone x till now . I tried to contact the apple service and they replied that , this is not an issue at all , as every display might be a little warmer or cooler . As i see is not just me or just my eyes that see the difference , and as i understand the problem is not just the yellowish display , the colors , the contrast all seem to be unbalanced. its a shame for 1k phone .look at the side by side comparison. same photo , same settings and everything just on the right is the iphone x . . I think i am gonna keep the x and return the 12 pro .
