iPhone 12 yellow screen

I am more inclined towards that this is a 14.2 software issue. I got my Iphone pro max on 13th Nov. I felt my eyes were hurting more so there is some problem with the display. I compared with my iphone xs max and my 12 pro was yellow. I got my phone changed on 16th Nov. The new one was bright white and looks awesome out of the box with default settings but as soon I updated the software 14.2 it went back to yellow!! Note factory phones come with 14.1. So I am assuming it would be a software 14.2 issue? Otherwise I have failed to understand why my phone was white before updating a new software?!

I have the same issue. The screen on my iPhone 12 pro looks sick with this yellow. I’m returning mine too. If they will fix this issue maybe I will buy one. Until then I’m keeping my iPhone X who got a new battery today.

OK, there could be something in this glue thing.

The return to Apple of my Pro was so easy that after my 12 arrived (which was much better than the returned pro) I ordered a Mini too, just to see what it was like.

That wasn't so good on the yellow front, so...

Turned off true tone.

Turned up the brightness.

Stopped the display going to sleep (Display and Brightness, set auto lock to never).

Put brightness on full.

Put the phone on charge (adds a little heat!).

And left it for an hour or so.

It now seems much whiter, pretty much the same as my replaced 12.

Note: to avoid burn in (I assume that's possible as it is OLED?) I downloaded a white image (google white in google image search), saved it to phots and then viewed it zoomed in so the whole screen was white.

(I also think TrueTone is being a bit aggressive)

I reported my issue with the yellow screen for my iPhone 12 Pro Max to apple on the 13th. It looks terrible compared to my iPhone X.

The case was escalated and I was waiting for an answer from the "engineering team" ...

As I got no answer so far I called back today and discovered that my case was closed and I was not informed ...

after explaining that the issue with the screen was the same I was invited either to replace it or to request a refund.

I am going for the replacement and sure that they will solve the problem, well maybe ... or will wait for the software update with the new one.

I have already changed my 12 pro max once but the problem persists. I will wait for 14.3 or a week or more to see if the glue theory is correct. However i do feel the screen is getting better by the day....

Well it should take them one or two weeks to manage the replacement so hopefully they will find a fix in the meantime ... I guess that if the MacRumors article is relevant they must be working on solving it if they are asking not to return phones and this should be consistent with my "case closed" ...

No actually i compare it daily side by side with my XS MAX. 12 pro max has been getting better with the day passing just not there yet... but maybe in a week or so... but looks much better than the first day yellow tint.. so being hopeful... this might resolve on its own..

Upgrading to software 14.2.1 on 12 pro max feels like the screen has gone better.. i can feel the font size has gone bigger too... the overall display on default settings is ALMOST there if i compare with XS MAX.. a little warmer than that though but not bothering anymore.. in fact looking better than XS MAX now...

After the recent update, actually it’s kinda worse. I feel the screen are much greener. Especially when I open “software version” . It shows green overlay and after a few seconds, the overlay gets turned off.

Well apple can fix his by update don’t know why they haven’t done it yet, if the screen can support Dolby vision and HDR surly a update can change the way the screen shows colour is a strange thing to happen since the screen is OLED and blacks should be black.

I contacted the support team & they saw the same thing on my shared screen & went over some trouble shooting with me which were the same things I did & it did not change. She suggested taking it back to Apple for an exchange & that one is dull as well.

I went through this as well & it still has not changed the dullness I am seeing. Everyone who has asked to see my phone is backing off now because of it's screens lack of WOW!

In london we are in lockdown till 2nd Dec, hopefully Apple will resume operations on 3rd Dec so I can browse also. I can benefit from extended Christmas return policy till 8th Jan 2021 to return my yellow screen iphone 12 pro max. Will see how it goes once I compare with display models on 3rd Dec or later! Have time to return so not in a rush.
