I am using an Ipad Pro. I have a screen image that I want to save only part of. So, I do a screen copy with the “print screen” button on my Logitech keyboard. A quick image shows up for seconds in Lower Left of desktop. If I tap on that, I get the copy of the screen shot with a menu I can use to drag around the area I want to copy. There isn’t an intuitive way to save this “clip”. How is this done?

The undo feature works on a screenshot picture. Tapping done gives me the option of where to save the picture that I have cropped. The image saved is the original full picture showing the black lines around the items that I wanted to cut.

Now it sounds like there's an issue with saving just the cropped version of the screenshot. Is that right?
After you make a crop, does the 'Undo' icon appear at the top?
If you haven't already, before taking the next screenshot, restart your iPad: Restart your iPad

Sterling: thank you for the tip. When I clip the area that I want to save and press the “done“, the entire screenshot is saved.

If you haven't already, be sure to back up then update to the latest version of iPadOS (14.1): Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you're still having issues after updating, remove the software on the iPhone and add it back:
