Anybody noticing severe battery drain for the iPhone 12 Pro right out of the box?
It makes sense that the battery drain is significant compared to the 11 Pro because of the smaller battery but you’d expect Apple would have worked on hardware and software optimization to improve battery life even with a smaller battery.

Battery drain is crazy!!!!!!, Fri night went to bed 100% and forgot to turn off the phone. I wondered if someone played with my phone during the night cause when I woke up, I only had 64% left! The phone stayed on the night stand.
So I looked at the settings, I switched the phone to LTE only, turn off background app refresh, turned off the location, put the dark mode on.
So Sunday was a great day to test the phone: 1h15 of video of WiFi, 35mns talk (LTE), 18mns of email, 45mns of browsing. As you can see you call this a slow day right? So at 4:15pm I looked at the battery I got 26% left. Remember it is a kind of a slow day.
During the work week I'm 100% sure I will have to recharge the phone at 2 or 3PM. The bloggers sponsored by your favorite fruit company will tell you that it is not an issue because you can recharge quickly the phone. YES IT IS. What's the point of having a phone if you have to recharge it half day?
The perfect benchmark is the the iPhone 11 Pro that I love so much because of its battery. I can use the phone for a day and a half without recharging it.
In all seriousness, why do you launch a phone that drains its battery so fast? A majority of people will have to recharge the phone in the afternoon?
I have a call with an Apple Tech at noon today. We will see what happen. I will continue to use the phone for few days. If the problem continue, I will return the phone to Apple and restore my dear iPhone 11 Pro.

..the same here. Battery level drops significantly/ fast without any action. I can´t imagine living through a busy day without charging...
Are you on 5G? The 5G radios use significantly more power than the LTE radios, no matter what the device:

You mean Apple will release a software update to fix the issue?
Do you have a heating problem too? My iphone 12 pro got heated up pretty frequently. I guess it's to do with the battery as well.
Yes same issue. It’s not indexing or anything. I can’t even go a full work day without charging. I think there is something wrong.
It isn’t an indexing issue. I think it’s related to the new modem.

I noticed that the drain really only happens when on cellular data. I am guessing it will improved with modem firmware updates.
What was the outcome of your call? I am having the same issue. 12pro, all apps closed off, background app refresh disabled, went from 97% to 55% while idle overnight.
My phone is on wifi all day and the drain is still significant, averaging 10% an hour just sitting on my desk
Yeah. I ended up buying a USB-C power bank otherwise I’d not make it through the day like I did with the XR.
Ridiculous. I asked Apple support and they just told me to use my phone less. considering the design is similar to iPhone 4 I guess they also adapted the “holding it wrong” strategy.
In my case it really was 5G. Seems like even with 5G Auto the drain is really bad. So I turned it off entirely.
If so many of us are reporting this, this has got to be an actual issue. I suspect it is a software thing since the phone works pretty good when I’m actually using it!
