iPhone 12 Pro Lock Sound Issue

12 Pro has a magsafe even if you dont use it :) but it’s okay not a magsafe problem !

I received my iPhone Mini MagSafe leather case today, and the first thing what I noticed was this weird lock sound. I took it off again and the sound is still strange. Rebooting the phone solved the issue temporarily, but when I put the case back on the phone, same issue again.

This is a really annoying bug. I hope that the next iOS version will fix this. This case is really expensive, such a simple bug should not happen...

I have the same issue with my 12 pro and hasn’t been solved after I upgraded to IOS 14.2. Lock sound is different (same as the video that xia91928 shared). Also another issue is that when I switch to silent mode from the side switch, it does not go to silent mode as I can hear keyboard sounds and notification sounds. It does this quite often.

This has nothing to do with MagSafe. I know some of you are using it. But I've never used MagSafe and it's an issue. So this is just a flat out issue that doesn't pertain to any one situation. MagSafe or not, it is annoying and happens.

I Also have Never used MagSafe.... I still have these issues with lock, keyboard and with mail and messages notifications sounds. I have to keep checking my phone for txt messages and mails.

ALSO, since 14.2.1 I am having the same issue with my Apple Watch 6: No notifications sounds on texting or emails.

This is an overall software issue, and all devices are up to date.

I have this problem on iPhone 12 Pro Max but only when powering off -- not any other system sound like keyboard.

13 NOV: Received the iPhone 12 Pro Max (iOS 14.2) and put on the Apple MagSafe Leather case.

22 NOV: I had previously upgraded to iOS 14.2.1. I removed the case and put it back on. The loud "click" sound started. iOS 14.2.1.

• • I removed and put back the case. The problem went away.

24 NOV: The problem returned. IDK what caused it. Removing the case did not solve it this time.

• • I powered down my iPhone and powered it back up. The problem went away (for now)

A permanent, software fix is needed.

I contacted Apple Support and the level one guy said he found an internal issue document stating this is known problem with a work around to remove the case. I’m assuming that means Apple will fix this eventually.

Is anyone using the iOS 14.3 beta and could test this?

ah, this is bizarre. in my experience the problem is only magsafe. Everytime i'll put iphone in magsafe cover or use magsave charger the problem come back. with hard reset the problem is fixed. or if i'll shutdown the iphone with volume up, volume down and press turn on button, swipe for turn off iphone.

only with magsafe things. without no problem.

iphone 12 Pro With 14.2.1

This has been the problem since out of the box. I have Never used MagSafe. Still have the same issues with notification sounds on lock, keyboard And iMessage. most of the time I will get s text and Never get a sound at all!

Also took off my case. And Still have the issues.

I reboot, soft and Hard reset.....problem returns quickly.....

it is Clearly a Software Bug.

256mb 12pro max, no case (or MagSafe products) noise altered approx 2-3 days after receiving and before buying and using MagSafe charger, updated software still same issue after update to 14.2, got new MagSafe charger after update so this didn’t affect my phone.

All I can say is that I've only experienced the "clack" lock sound when I first used an official Apple magsafe leather case.

I decided to take the case off my iPhone 12, did a soft reset to return the lock sound to normal, then used the phone for a couple of days to see if it returned on its own and thankfully it didn't.

For me, something is happening when the phone senses that a magsafe accessory has attached itself to the phone (whilst turned on).

Since going through the procedure I mentioned above, it's not returned. My guess would be that if you attached and detached a magsafe accessory, such as a wallet or charger then it is highly likely the "clack" sound will return. Unfortunately, I don't have either so I'm unable to give a definite answer to that one.

My issue was isolated to the Lock Screen sound. The issue started when I removed and put back my leather MagSafe case. Note: When I initially put the case on, my iPhone was off and I had no issues.

Toggling the setting didn't address the problem.

Powering off and back on addressed the problem.

I have not removed the case since then. And I haven't experienced the issue again.

Let’s hope Apple are able to rectify the problem soon - seems that some people have the sound problems that are attributed with MagSafe accessories only and others are experiencing sound issues when they’ve not used MagSafe.

I’ ve also had the issue with keyboard clicks becoming slightly louder, the longer I type - it’s all very strange.

let’s hope this is a software bug that can be squashed and no a hardware fault - I think it’s more of the former.
