Upgrade from MacOS High Sierra to Catalina

I have decided to update my MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) from MacOS High Sierra to Catalina.

Are there any important things that I should do before I "jump in at the deep end"?

Hi,

Not really, but you should make sure that you have backed up all of your data and that all of your apps are compatible with MacOS Catalina and update all of your apps to the latest versions.

Apart from, that good luck.

Hi,

There isn’t any definite way of telling which apps will and won’t run on Catalina without checking the developers website, but apps that definitely won’t run on Catalina are old 32bit apps and apps that haven’t received a update for 6 months to a year or more. But if any apps aren’t compatible with Catalina they won’t be removed during the update, they will just not open or run after macOS Catalina is installed.
