McDonalds app initialization critical error on iPhone

Unable to log in! Tried everything! Talked with Apple support, screen shared, restarted phone Apple I6. Get error readings, initialization error, log in error! Help!? Love the fries!

Same here! The app automatically logged me out and now never lets me login. Every time I try, it just tells me again that I need to login. I’ve reported it to McD’s a few times with no response. This has been going on for 1-2 weeks, I think since their last version update.

Same here. I got my iphone 11 in January and I cannot use the McDonalds app at all. Same critical error everytime. I've tried contacting McDonalds twice with no response. So frustrating. Guess they don't want my business. Nothing is fixing this no matter how many times you delete and reinstall the app. Ugh. Can't even create a new account. It worked fine when I had my iphone 8.

Same here same error every time no matter how many times I have deleted and reinstalled app don’t get it it worked on my iPhone 11 but not on my current 12 Max pro. Oh well the heck with Mcdonalds I won’t ho there , one customer means nothing to ten heck couple thousand customers mean nothing to them .McDonald’s RIP

Well, check this out, when you go to MCDs you get a receipt (must do the survey). One MCDs I go to, the manager allows me to use those receipts (even expired ones) to buy anything at "buy one get one". The only problem is he's not always at the drive thru window. He said any MCDs can do it but the people at the window don't know how/have no brains/afraid too attempt to input the code because the top usually says "buy a Qrtr pounder get a Qrtr pounder free!!!

Exact same thing. I just downloaded app after having it deleted for over a week, now as jcozz1966 says App will not even open now it crashes immediately ,before it would open giving you the initialization critical error. WELL one good thing I got rid of the initialization critical error! lol from bad to worse unreal

I wonder if there is consistency as to what exact phones it definitely does not work on? Mine is a 12 pro max I have seen other people with 11 pro max that it does not work on is it all the 11 and 12 pro max's? . Makes no sense at all and its also amazing that no one can figure it out! But if you want to watch a 4k video up to 100 million miles away (incredible technology) you can, but you can not use this app ! would be nice to get some stats as to which phones it works on and which ones it does not to see if there is some correlation of some sort.

Yes! I too wonder if it’s only “Max” versions of iPhone. I can’t believe there’s not more comments on Apple App Store of people having similar issues. It’s so incredibly frustrating and reading this chain of comments goes back to 2020... it’s just crazy. Like you said we can view incredible videos and do so much with technology but we can’t fox this McDonalds app. It’s madness haha

I have a 12 Max that it doesn’t work on but it was on my previous phone (iPhone 6s+) when it stopped working. I had a different 6+ that the charger port stopped working so Apple replaced it. I’m curious if everyone that is having issues used it fine at one point and then lost that ability after getting a new/different phone? Like maybe our logins are somehow linked to the old phone?? I don’t know? Just grasping.

It's great that a bunch of people want to try and identify commonalities that should in theory help get to the bottom of it..

but McDonalds is the only entity here that 'can't figure it out' or they simply don't feel like allocating the resources to do it. or the problem isn't widespread enough for them to take much notice.


You've used your comparison several times in this thread about doing stuff from 100 million miles away.. but no one can figure out the app issue.. While it is amazing that we can get video from Mars, it's not really the same to compare the availability of technology to the willingness of a company to fix their application.

If the right resources were put to the task, this would absolutely get resolved.

I'm guessing the only way that's ever going to happen is if everyone having this issue lets them know, complains via email/phone/social media, leave a 1 star review for their app.. stuff like that.


I'm not knocking you daja62 or this thread.. so don't take any of my comments that way.

I'm just hoping that everyone that stops by here with this issue realizes that this is just a user to user forum. I doubt McDonalds will ever see this thread. Apple is not here, and even if they were, they didn't write the app and can't tell McDonalds to fix it. So the best possible thing everyone viewing this can do to achieve any sort of resolution is to contact McDonalds app support. Each and every one of you.

Not sure if you joking or not but I do believe it’s possibly another app but chances are who ever has a McDonald’s app and also has a Burger King app which is like everyone so I think that’s not the problem however I just deleted burger app for the **** of it ( just for giggles ) no difference maybe you work for stupid McDonald’s regardless it goes deeper than that !!
