Soo I’m facing this problem with my iPhone 8 Plus camera in portrait mode. Every time I’m trying do a portrait on people it does not work, telling the same “move further away”. On the other hand on some objects it works. EDIT: I have the latest iOS 14.1

The one key of taking a picture in Portrait Mode with controlled depth of field (Blurred Background) is to have enough space between the subject and the background as well. Try it next time. Have the person pose in a location where the background is also as far or farther than the distance between you and the subject.
