Modifying Numbers calendar template - adding holidays & custom text

A couple unresolved issues came up about modifying a calendar using the calendar template available in Numbers. I am moderately fluent in Numbers so bear with me...

I'd like to insert holidays with their names into each monthly display. I am using holidays from several countries so I imagine easiest is populating list from Google or calendar service and converting .ics to .csv for Numbers. I'm building a list for 2021 currently, but would be for future years as well

-How would I create an holiday list to show the names on specific dates?

Secondly, I'd like to change the language of the months. I can change the days of the week in the top grid bar with language&country option, however I do not see a way to change the month text in the pop-up menu. Screenshot below

Changing the TEXT in the Months pop-up menu is easy See the right sidebar in the image below), BUT…

The monthname in that cell is used in calculating the dates in all three calendars on the page.

When I changed the English "January" to "Enero" (Spanish), the large grid placed the dates for December, and the smaller month-before and month-after calendars were populated with the correct dates for November and January respectively.

(The December calendar below the first week of the Pages template is from the Calendar application.)

Besides changing the month names in the menu cell, you'll need to change them in column B of the Month and Year table containing that menu.

Other changes may also be needed, but I've not explored further.

Barry

The text portion is solved then. Checks out as I cycle through the months.

I changed the names in the pop-up menu for the prev and upcoming months.

I changed in column B for the main month underlined in the screeenshot, above the year. (Must first unhide rows in the main month table)

Days of the week were auto-supplied by changing country. File>Advanced>Language&Region

I don't think a document based on the 'Calendar' template is your best choice to include holidays. Is there a reason you aren't using the Calendar app, which offers that, and many other features?

As for changing the month names in the Pop-Up Menu you can do that directly in the Pop-Up Menu itself (which you have highlighted in yellow in your screenshot.) Just double-click each month name and change it to whatever you want.

Thanks pointing me in the right direction re:the menu changes! I couldn't quite find that solution...

I get Calendar app is better in many ways as a functioning calendar and integrates with everything better. I am assembling the 12-year months for a fine art landscape/nature photography calendar. With the calendar and holidays I combine it into a pdf with images.

I can manually enter holidays into columns easy enough with dates and names - but can I get the text to show up in the boxes for each day. For example, it may require a formula to find the 4th Thursday of each NOV for Thanksgiving and I would find a way for "Thanksgiving" text to show up in the date box.
