Just got my new 12 pro and it is getting pretty hot while charging even while connected. On my Anker wireless charger which worked just fine for the XS I used before its even worse
Is it just me and I have a problem or is it a general issue and I should not worry too much
As someone else posted, I think this may be a “start-up” phenomenon with a new iPhone. My iPhone 12 mini was hot for the first day while it was revving up all the programs for the first time. Second day and onward, it cooled down and began to operate as expected, ie as iPhones usually do.
In other words, this seems to be a one-time event while initializing a new, more powerful iPhone.
Of course, if heating continues, you have a problem and need to get to an Apple store.
my phone won’t charge passed 60%. Optimized charging is off. Now when I charge my 12 pro max it gets really hot while charging. Smdh. The last 2 days my phone has gone dead in the middle of the day because it’s not receiving a full charge at night. So **** frustrating.
I too recently got an iPhone 12 and when charged with 20w power adapter it gets really hot. Whereas it doesn’t when charged with the old 5w adaptor or when charged with MacBook Pro. Do you have a similar issue? Your answer will be very helpful to me!
Initially it was getting heated but later it is not getting so much hot. I haven't heard any crackling noises, thankfully!

Mine was doing that. I have the 20w block and I just traded my 12 for another one cuz it was hot. I think it’s the block, I’m going to get a 18w. For now I’m using the same charger as my iPhone 8
The wattage of the adapter isn’t the issue. If the phone can’t handle high wattage input, it’s an issue with the phone.
I have the same issue in my 330, and have had the charger replaced once. It seemed better, but the 12 Pro has reached “needs to cool down” state more than once.
I’ve gotten 2 iPhones now and then second one was still kinda getting warm so I’m going to get a 18w. I don’t know why it does this
I’m just using the normal apple charger for my 8 and cable. The 20w charger seems to be a lot of anything I’ll do a 18w. I only use the 20 if I need it charged quickly
