Unable to login to Google only in iOS Safari

Always a little upsetting when you realize how much time you just invested in attempting to figure out the issue at hand. That was a good 2 hour session, until I found THIS WONDERFUL POST!

I been also having these issues since January I have tried every u said and whatever esle I could try from the comment sections. Like deleting all the open apps, logging out of my emails, turnin on and off the ‘requestidlecallback’ clearing all the history and cookies , turning off my phone multiple times. Nothing has help me log back in. I’m just constantly stuck on the page where it lets me input my email but not leading me to the next window . I’m just stuck at the next button which is really frustrating. I can log into my emails on my pc but my phone is no good. And now I’m logged out of my two main accounts and not able to go back in on my phone

please help 😭😭😭😭

requestIdleCallback is OFF by default.

the google login screen for user authentication is not working again.

does anyone have same issue?

for completion: it was an app called 'Crystal', a content blocker for safari that was preventing the google password page to correctly open.

Hence, a content blocker must be taken into account among the list of possible google account signing issue.

I run a web site with links to google docs. Users who try to access these docs are ask to authenticate themself with a gmail account. The google docs are set for all viewers to read. In windows, accessing these Google docs doe not require any authentication. The users on Iphone and Ipads seem to have this authentication requirement. I have over 300 users and I can authorize each as a viewer, but I don't see why this is required. I am receiving request like the following

userx is requesting access to a file via an old link, which is no

longer valid due to a security update. Share the file with this person

directly, or copy and send the new link in sharing settings

Anybody have any clues on how to fix this problem

I’m not sure when I turned this callback button on, if it was always on or if something changed with one of the recent IOS updates. I’m just happy it worked and I can move on.

I recently allowed my phone to update to iOS 15.0, and this error has plagued my life now for a few weeks … the only time google works or allows me to sign in, is within another browser (e.g. chrome, foxfire, edge, opera etc …) and all I have to say to that is I purchase apple products for a reason. I shouldn’t have to role play Ash and catch ‘em’ all. What’s going on?

I have the same problem, we shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to make things work that already worked before. My ipad is new and upto date on all iOS and apps, i can’t understand why all of a sudden I can not use google login for anything I used it for before.

After days and hours I found the answer. If you go to your Safari settings, scroll all the way down to “Experimental Features”, then go down to the bottom to - “RequestidleCallback”- and deactivate the button from green to gray. Then close it and reboot your phone! Wow- thank to whomever suggested it on Apple help forum!I am exhausted now. I spent days , hours and trips to my carrier trying to figure this out !

I recently bought the new iPad Mini 6 after being a mostly Android user, hoping to have a wonderful experience with this new device, and being done with the previous incompatibility issues. But I've been extremely frustrated, and wasted a lot of time I don't think I should have, to attempt to get to my Google Docs, Calendar, drive, YouTube, etc. I've followed all the instructions listed here, and I still can't get it to work. This new iPad is quickly becoming a useless device for me. 😬

I finally figured it out!! I use PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN. When the applications transferred to the new iPad Mini 6, it set PIA to always turn on the VPN, even though I had never used that setting before. I could turn off the VPN on the main settings page, but in the process of adding the Gmail account, it would automatically turn it back on and wouldn't complete.

I changed the setting in the PIA app, and it added the Gmail account with no issues.

I'm a happy camper now! 😊

On an iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 15.1, I had exactly the same issue with the Gmail app and the Google Smart Lock app to try adding another account. The pop up window just hung there after I input my email address. This workaround got me through instantly.

I tried this on iOS 15.1, it doesn’t work. I tried TikTok. It doesn’t work I try logging in but when I enter the username, it get stuck on the username page and I can’t go to the password page. Help please :(

I just turned the requestIdleCallback option off in my iPhone 5SE and without rebooting I was able to log to Google. I did not have to do anything on my iPad Pro since it never showed that problem.

Don’t play with experimental features that you don’t know well.
