Default camera roll app replacement?

Is there a way to replace the default camera roll app?

Ever since they decided to remove the camera roll and replace it with the awful “recents”, everything is a muddled mess of images.

I just want to see images taken with my phone and not have to skip past wallpapers or screenshots. I know there is a “hide” feature but I don’t want to have to hide things, just have them in separate folders.

is there a work around for this or any plans to bring back the camera roll in the future?
