How do I reset the NVRAM and PRAM with a broken R key?

Depending on the age & vintage of 'MacBook/Pro 15-inch' model; key-face

& two other parts beneath, may be replaced without takeapart of Top Case.


{..Or see if you can find a USB keyboard to use instead of internal one..}

and those have details you could use, and learn how to fix the keyboard.

You could replace individual keys, for small fraction of full keyboard price.

May be dusty bits are in between the three parts?

simple way to reset both the SMC and NVRAM using Terminal.app

start up in Single-User Recovery mode using Command S R then enter the command line, copy and paste—

pmset -a restoredefaults && nvram -c
