My Escape key disappeared!

After the last upgrade to 10.15.7 of macOS Catalina, the escape button has disappeared from the touch bar on my 15" Macbook Pro. It never shows up in any apps, where it used to show up before. It is not there pressing the fn key either. I read that 16" Macbooks have a dedicated Escape key. Is it possible my Macbook actually thinks it is a 16"?

You might need to force quit the whole Touch Bar itself. This can be done via Activity Monitor, or through the Terminal. See instructions here: http://osxdaily.com/2017/01/11/manually-refresh-touch-bar-mac/

Check if you have same issue in safe mode.

Note: Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.
