Escape key disappeared from my Touch Bar

I recently download the new OS to my computer and now the escape button has been removed from my Touch Bar. I have tried going in through system preferences and adding it back but it isn't even an option. I have read the apple support page about the Touch Bar. I don't want to assign another key as my escape button. Does anyone know how to get it back?
