How to use C++ on macOS 10.15 without downloading Xcode?

I'm running macOS Catalina and have just started a course at school in C++. I'm using Eclipse. I want to be able to code C++ in Eclipse without doing the full 10+ GB Xcode installation. How can I do this? I've seen you can download just the Command Line Tools, but will this work in Eclipse? And are there Command Line Tools available for Catalina?
