Login items setting doesn't save

Whenever I reboot my computer, I always get Microsoft Teams starting up upon login. I have been to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Current User > Login Items and removed Microsoft Teams by removing the application from the login items list. I made sure to click the lock to make changes and entered my password.

For some reason the setting always changes back to default after rebooting and I get Microsoft Teams at login again.

How can I make the setting stick?

Perhaps you've enabled the "Auto-start application" option?

Good luck.
