Totally solved the problem! Thanks very much for taking the time & trouble to offer a straightforward solution to a problem that almost had me looking for a new printer, and wasted a couple of hours of my time trying to figure it out. Brilliant. But from my perspective, no thanks at all to HP or Apple, who gave me no help at all with an issue that seems to be entirely of their own making.
