How to remove swipe up after faceid unlock? iPhone 12
I am new to faceid and find it’s convenient. But how to directly go to Home Screen after unlocking by faceid? I don’t prefer the swipe up.
No extra app/ hacks pls
thank you so much

Hiya
I think have a decent alternative.
go to : settings ; accessibility; touch. At the bottom you’ll see a ‘back tap’ option - either 2 taps or three. Ive set my phone up for 2 taps for home screen.
So now when i pick my phone up, i tap it twice on the back and it unlocks it. Not perfect but easier than swiping up, specially when you have the hand size of a 6 year old girl.
hope this helps 😉

Apple is never going to remove Swipe Up after unlocking your phone. It's a security feature, which I'm sure you'll all learn to live with and not give it further thought.
But asking for Apple to do ANYTHING here on this USER TO USER only forum is a total waste of time and effort. Apple isn't here. Just other users.
You can certainly provide feedback to Apple via the link I'll provide below, but don't be surprised to not see this feature change. It's been on every new iPhone for the last 4 years, since iPhone X was released in 2017. Millions upon millions upon millions of iPhone users have been using this without any fuss for a few years now.

Agreed with other users that the option would be nice. Just switched from Android myself and definitely missing this feature/convenience.
You should tell Apple. I know I did (you were able to get rid of the swipe up with TouchID and I missed it). The more people who tell Apple, the more likely they are to consider a change.
I recently upgraded from an iPhone 7 which just used the fingerprint scanner to completely open and unlock the phone in one go, so getting used to 'FaceID to unlock, then Swipe up to go to the home screen' was irritating to the point I set out to find a solution.
Here's what I came up with. It's not perfect, but it works for me: Configure the 'back tap" feature to open the home screen. Now, I look at the screen for FaceID to unlock the phone and simultaneously tap the back of the phone twice to go to the home screen. No need to swipe up, and it's become a muscle memory thing that I don't have to consciously think about anymore.
I hope it helps.

Hello Cottonwoolmouse,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
Based on what you mentioned, you want to access your Home screen instantly from using Face ID. Imagine if you only want to check the Lock screen and your device automatically opens to the Home screen. This may have some inconveniences. However, when you use Face ID it is only meant to unlock the device or act as a key to confirm secure actions. It will not bring you to the Home screen getting the Home screen is not a hands free task. Review this document: Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro.
Best wishes!
I found a more convenient workaround if you're like me who's got a thick case that doesn't respond well to back taps. This is based off of destry26's solution. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. Turn it on then scroll down. You should see Custom Actions where you can edit Double-Taps or Long Press. I have Home set on long press and Switch Apps on double tap.
As a kind of "work around"... you can make the back double tap feature take you to home screen.
If you unlock with face ID you can double tap and are at home.
Pro = no swipe up. Con = you still have to do an extra step.
For some people that back tapping may be preferable to swiping up. It is for me. I would still prefer a choice to go directly to home upon face unlock but I guess we have to wait for that. Oh, one other thing about using the double tap to home is that the swipe up still works too. So depending on how you are grabbing the phone you may be able to use either one.
We can't give you that choice. You must think you're speaking to Apple? Apple isn't here on this user to user only forum.

Hai !!!! to unlock as u want please do this:
Settings:Accessibility:Touch:Backtap:Double Tap option: and select Home.
Now just lock ur phone and unlock using face-ID. after unlock just double tap at the back of ur iphone and Home screen opens. It worked for me on Iphone XR with a back pouch. Hope it works for you too.
As another poster noted: Go to Back Tap in Settings/Accessibility and set either Double or Triple Back Tap to Home. Works and no swipe required to open to Home after faceid.
I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that there is a way to look at it to get to the Home Screen. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Double tap on the back can be done with the same hand after face is recognized. Was aggravating as heck before I set that option since I could not swipe up with the same hand I was holding the phone with. I had to use my other hand. Even works with my protective case installed.
Swipe up is imperfect since you have to touch the screen at a specific point to start the swipe. I discovered that I often had to repeat the motion several times to hit the sweet spot. Back tap can be done anywhere on the back with the index finger while holding the phone.
Not sure I understand what you mean when you say it takes more time and effort to get to your home screen after swiping up. When I tap the back from the lock screen my home screen shows up instantly, same with swiping up. Doesn't your home screen show up instantly after swiping up?
On iOS 12 you can enable assistive touch. Then under custom actions select Double-tap -> Home.
Now after unlocking your phone with face id you can just double-tap on the assistive touch icon.
Thank you,
Warm Regards,

This still should be an option for us who hate having to do the swipe up. It is very annoying coming from the iPhone 8 where you just pressed the home button and you were at the Home Screen. Please make this an option.
