Poor Phone Reception on Iphone 12 Pro

I have just switched to an Iphone 12 Pro. I now have very poor reception and am unable to make calls from the same spots within our house, that I could with our previous phone (Android). I would be able to make calls from anywhere within our house and have good reception (3 to 4 bars). Since switching to the Iphone 12 Pro....I'm lucky to get 2 bars (with 1 bar being the normal). I now need to walk outside everytime I need to make a call. Just wanted to see if others are experiencing similar issues?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

I have had issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max from day one and blamed the call dropouts on the 3 Network i was on. They sent me a new sim card which made no difference. I could be speaking to someone and be stationary say at my desk and for no reason the other person cannot hear me but i can hear every word they say crisp as anything. I move into another room and sometimes that helps although the call is on wifi so should of helped anyway. Sometimes calls received go straight to voicemail so i miss them totally as the phone doesn't even ring. The callers are not blocked. I changed to EE and experienced exactly the same issues from inserting a brand new sim so i know its the phone and not the network provider. We have 2 iPhone X in our family as well and they experience no issues what so ever. Spoke with Apple today and they agreed to send me a replacement phone but i had to lay out £1199 before they would post it out. Yes i know they charge this as a guarantee to get the phone back but having applecare plus as well you would think they would send another one out next day courier and collect the defective one at the same time but no. What really annoys me is that we are the guinea pigs for these big companies who cant get their products right before selling them to us.

Hello, I just purchase 2 Iphone 12 pro max 256gb on Dec 3. I am having the same issue. I took it into the Jump Plus store and they basically did nothing. I tried switching service providers from Fido to Telus and then back to Fido but still the same issue. Here is what I did to resolve the issue,

Open settings

Select "Cellular"

Turn off "Cellular Data"

Select Cellular Data Options"

Select Voice & Data and pick the 3G network.

Doing this gave me full bars within a few seconds and it is still working well.

Hope this helps, please let me know if this works for you.

So I have been fighting this issue also. While I am not at 100%, I found that a Speck clear case caused a 6 db to 8 db drop in signal strength. If you type "*3001#12345#*" and hit call. It brings up a testing signal app. I was able to use this over a few days of testing to find the signal variations. I submitted a warranty claim with Speck, and they are sending me a new case. I think all of this has to do with the iPhone 12 not having a dedicated 3G antenna. Looking at the signal info, it is different from an iPhone X that I was comparing it to. Apple said Verizon is working on a fix and I saw 14.4 beta has modem updates also. I now have the otter box commuter case. It works as well as no case, signal strength wise.

Come on Apple we are paying good hard earned money for crap products!!!

So what is the fix and is it just on the 1st batch of phones released or does it apply to all iPhone 12 models with 5G?

Too many others are experiencing issues so be honest ....... (as if)

I have been told by my carrier that they need to have different settings for the Iphones. I don't know the technical reasons behind why, but after speaking with them they changed something on their system for my account, and I have begun to get slightly better reception...still not as good as my previous phones. So I believe based on what has been noted here, that the Iphones (Pros in particular) don't appear to have as strong an antenna as other phones. I have tried what others have said about changing from Auto or 5G to 4G in my settings. None of that has helped. I have gone to many different spots in our house and used the iphone 12 pro, and then in the same location, I have taken the sim out and put it in my old Samsung Galaxy phone and used it in exactly the same way. The reception and signal was always better on the Galaxy. I'm not trying to get into an Android vs IOS argument. I'm just frustrated that I can't get as good a signal on my 12 Pro compared to my other phone.

I posted on this back in November, the 12 Plus is garbage and apple has yet to update us with a fix. I ended up shutting off the 5G and I’m just using 4G with LTE on Verizon network. The phone got better, can actually take and receive calls now, but the quality isn’t that great. Wish I kept my 8-Plus, best phone I’ve ever owned.
