iOS 14 videos not converting to GIFs

In iOS 13 I was able to edit a video(resizing, trimming, etc) and turn it into a gif.

In iOS 14, if I edit a video and try to convert it into a gif, it turns it into a non moving photo. I’ve deleted my gif shortcuts and re-made them and nothing works.

this post on the forum seemed similar to mine (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251806527) but didn’t make mention of a video being edited.

anyone else having this issue, or have found a fix for it?

GIFs It appears out of nowhere when iOS 14.x hit GIFs were no longer saving to the photo album. I don’t get it. Apple had something working perfectly and now - boom, gone. People are talking about it all over the internet. This is another ‘big brother is watching’ thing. Makes me and others nuts. I am on iOS 14.6 and if I see a GIF in safari where I used to be able to save it to photos and it would play, now it’s a still picture. And you can’t seem to get a straight answer anywhere.

GIF Making Hi, Is there a way to create GIFs on iPhone 11 Pro? I see some older tutorials showing that it is an option when you swipe up on Live Photos, but I'm not seeing that option on my phone. I'm running the current ios (15.4). I'd rather not use a third party app, if Apple has an in-house solution. Thanks!

Why Can’t I Edit iPhone Videos? For several months now (due to updates?) video editing on my iPhone XS Max has become extremely limited or nonexistent. Sometimes I can trim and save a video, but then when I attempt any more edits, they can’t be saved. What’s going on Apple? I saw this issue in much earlier questions, but with no solutions.
