Music/Podcasts - Handoff?

Are you not able to just pick up where you left off precisely with Music/Podcasts when say listening to a podcast on your iPhone you want to switch to your Mac?

Mine doesn't even refresh my podcast app on my Mac when opening to remove played episodes I finished on iPhone and select the one I'm currently listening to, never mind give me the ability to jump straight back in where I left off.

Got to be one of the biggest oversights, most unlike apple things I've found using these products. Or am I missing something?

Make sure that all devices are signed in to the same Apple ID. Make sure that Handoff is enabled on all devices. They need to have Bluetooth turned on, and be on the same WiFi network. Going from your phone to Mac should be playing a song/podcast on your phone, and Podcasts should pop up on the Dock. Clicking this should start to play where you left off. Going from Mac to iPhone/iPad is similar to above. Open App Switcher and there should be a bar along the bottom that shows something along the lines of:

*App name*

From "*Name of device*"

Clicking this will open you to where you left off.
