Why does my MacBook Pro internet connection show up on the dock of my IMac desktop?

So my MacBook Pro internet is showing up in my IMac dock and vise versa. It is annoying that when my wife is on the laptop internet it shows up down there. how do we get this to stop on both computers?

I have my MacBook Pro (2021 M1 14") connected via Thunderbolt to a Dock, which is connected to my home network via ethernet. I also have my MacBook Pro on the network via Wi-Fi so I can print and exchange files, etc. How do I determine which is being used to connect to the internet? I'd prefer it used the Ethernet port for that. I thought that, in the Network Preference Pane, whichever network connection is at the top of the list is the internet connection, though I may be mis-remembering this. Currently, it shows Wi-Fi at the top then the Thunderbolt/Ethernet connection. (see screenshot)

loosing wifi connection I keep on loosing my wifi connection and am unable to click on any app in my dock which opens up to a menu without a direct connection.

MBP will not automatically switch to ethernet from wifi 2019 MBP Sonoma 14.1.1 Deco Mesh router hardwired backhaul (if this matters) Using OWC thunderbolt 3 dock with ethernet plugged into it Use case: I have my MBP unplugged from dock and using wifi I plug the thunderbolt cable into left rear TB port on MBP I expect the MBP to eventually start using ethernet, but it continues to use wifi (according to my router software). I turn off the wifi on the MBP, and after a few seconds it starts using ethernet, as expected. Notes: ethernet is significantly faster. That is: while using zoom and switching wifi on/off the deco software indicates I use a lot more bandwidth over ethernet, the video and audio quality improve, and the connected bluetooth devices (magic touchpad and keyboard) stop lagging (a common issue for MBP using bluetooth and wifi at the same time, apparently) The thunderbolt port is/has always been at top of the list under settings>network. Not sure how to "encourage" the MBP to switch to ethernet without turning off wifi after connecting the thunderbolt cable.
