Trying tor restore an Apple TV HD with no paired remote. I Restore it from my Mac and it goes ok. Then I try to finalise the process from my phone and it starts ok until it asks me to click a box which I cant to since I don't have a paired remote.
( I have lost the remote and are trying to pair it with the Iphone.)
What to do?
It has. The remote app works over wifi, hence there is no possible discovery when one or both devices are not connected to the same network. The physical remote would need to be used in order to setup the Apple TV on a network, which would include after a restore. Otherwise, one can pair with a BT keyboard to set that up and then revert to the app.

If you have an iPhone with iOS 12 or later, then you should be able to use the Apple TV Remote in Control Center. Verify that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on.

The Apple TV would need to be on the same network as the phone in order to use the remote in control centre. The options would be to borrow a remote, purchase a replacement (the aluminum version also works) or pair with a BT keyboard during setup.
No the Iphone can not see the Apple TV since it is not fully installed. So I can not use the controll centre. Tested that.
I bought a remote. That solved the problem. But I am surprised this has not been thought through properly!
