iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

Since upgrading from my iPhone X to IPhone 12 Pro I’ve noticed in a group text (SMS) that I’m randomly missing texts. My husband is in the group too so I can see I’m missing multiple texts at random. Anyone else having this issue?

I’ve been having issues ever since getting my new phone. I transferred the data from iPhone X to the 12 Pro. When you switch phones apparently the phone number did not settle and needs to be “reconnected”. T-Mobile support had me:

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular (iPhone)

2. Tap Network Selection.

3. Slide the Automatic slider to the off position to start scanning for networks.

4. Select desired carrier (T-Mobile)

  1. Restart phone
  2. Settings > Messages > Turn on Send as SMS
  3. Click Sent & Receive
  4. Make sure the Number and Apple ID are listed and correct
  5. Remove the check on your phone number by tapping it. And select Remove.
  6. Now that it’s unchecked, tap to apply it again. This reconnects your phone.
  7. Done.
  8. So far so good

I had my phone replaced yesterday. That didn’t fix the issue!! Small group text (3 people) and several missed messages. Worst part, a few messages came through via the iOS message app that never showed in the Verizon message+ app and then vise versa. Then after, nothing in the group text via iOS messages and all seemed to show on the Verizon app.

Spoke with a manager about this and she said it’s not very widespread but most likely software related.

Still no fix. You know how we get this fixed?? News media! Not social media, regular news media. Need a local affiliate to pick up the story and Apple will work relentlessly to fix the issue with the bad press.

J$1...did you have Tmobile replace the phone or Apple?

I, like all of you, have had the same issue for both my wife and I (both upgrading from iPhone 8 to the 12 Pro). Initially thought it was a Tmobile thing, but this thread has enlightened me to it being across all carriers. Have tried all the same trouble shooting with resetting network settings, toggling MMS/group messages, etc. They seem to work as a (very) temporary fix.

For giggles, I have put the new SIM card in my old iPhone 8 today to see if the problem persists....SO FAR, it has NOT been a problem in the iPhone 8. Only been a few hours, but if it continues to not be a problem on the 8, I may return my 12 Pro until there is a fix :(

This has been happening to me as well, but I’ve got an 11 Pro Max. It’s been happening since iOS 14 installed.

I will straight up not receive a text on my phone that I get on my MacBook or watch, my watch will ring while my phone sits there doing nothing, and the other way around. Same goes for FB messages, and notifications from other apps.

Also, totally at random, an iMessage will not say “delivered” for hours after sending it and then will randomly send. I haven’t read responses here yet, but definitely think it’s an iOS 14 bug (and a horrible one, worst I’ve ever experienced on any Apple product) and not an iPhone 12 thing.

Yes, agree with this scenario. This is the only time I am seeing this problem. Also, only on my iPhone 12Pro (Tmobile). My wife on the same group text (Tmobile) but on an iPhone XR.

This appears to be strictly impacting iPhone 12 models regardless of carriers.

The same group texts that worked in iOS14 on my iPhone XS stopped working as soon as I upgraded to iPhone 12Pro.

Let's go Apple. Figure this out!!

I upgraded two days ago to the iphone 12 and I am having this issue as well. (Verizon is my carrier). All texts are still coming through on my laptop, but not the phone. Not only do I not receive group texts, but one on one texts are buggy. My phone says they take about an hour to send with the blue bar at the top of the message, but people reply immediately. When I look on my laptop, I only receive 1/4 of the individual texts that are actually being sent to me.

I am thinking of downgrading to the 11, this is unacceptable. What a waste of money, Apple. It seems like an issue with the physical device, since people in the replies here have all sorts of different carriers. I'm skeptical that waiting for the ios upgrade will even help, as it seems like the issue is the phone itself.
