iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

Since upgrading from my iPhone X to IPhone 12 Pro I’ve noticed in a group text (SMS) that I’m randomly missing texts. My husband is in the group too so I can see I’m missing multiple texts at random. Anyone else having this issue?

I’ve been having issues ever since getting my new phone. I transferred the data from iPhone X to the 12 Pro. When you switch phones apparently the phone number did not settle and needs to be “reconnected”. T-Mobile support had me:

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular (iPhone)

2. Tap Network Selection.

3. Slide the Automatic slider to the off position to start scanning for networks.

4. Select desired carrier (T-Mobile)

  1. Restart phone
  2. Settings > Messages > Turn on Send as SMS
  3. Click Sent & Receive
  4. Make sure the Number and Apple ID are listed and correct
  5. Remove the check on your phone number by tapping it. And select Remove.
  6. Now that it’s unchecked, tap to apply it again. This reconnects your phone.
  7. Done.
  8. So far so good

True, but you also have to consider that the user's carrier is not the only variable here...there are 2 phones, and likely 2 carriers, involved in every text message; in group chats, obviously that number is even higher. So the fact that posters here have all different carriers doesn't really matter...it could be one carrier involved in every single group chat.

Also, group SMS has always sucked. I'm in a few larger SMS group chats and texts are often not received by some/all group members. It's been happening forever, and happens on both iOS and Android.

Where did you find that option in the messages + app?

Using the Verizon Messages (Message+) app on your

phone, tablet, computer or the web will automatically subscribe you to

the Integrated Messaging service. You can also sign up for Integrated

Messaging on the web by signing in to My Verizon from the My Messaging page and clicking Go to Web App."

I don't think the "send as SMS" setting has anything to do with it. My wife had that setting disabled and was not getting messages - and what's funny is T-mobile support told her to enable it. Both before and after changing the setting she missed messages.

It didn't seem worth bothering to mention to T-mobile support that we weren't having issues sending and that my setting was disabled and I hadn't been seeing the issue. In addition, since these were messages sent via MMS and not imessage, not sure that setting should have any impact.

Having the same issue. New iPhone 12 Pro. AT&T user. Have tried customer support with Apple and changed out my SIM card with AT&T. No help. I'm on a 12-person group text about our kids, and there is one Android user. Everyone seems to get my messages, but I am missing most of theirs, even if it comes from another iPhone. This only happens when there's an Android in the mix. My wife is on the chain as well so I know exactly which messages are missing. She is on ios 13 and I am on 14.

Incredibly frustrating, given that I paid $1300 for this phone.

In terms of the comment for "integrated messaging"... isn't that only if you are using verizon message+?

I and I think most people are using the regular message app on the iPhone. While most of us are saying it happened when we upgraded to physical iPhone 12, some are saying simply the ios14 caused the issue. Either way, I think its related to one of those and not a verizon specific app.

"Of course, Apple should be taking care of this with the carriers"

Why? Do they provide your cell service? Do they maintain the infrastructure that handles SMS and MMS messaging? The answer to both is no. The carriers are dropping the ball with the transition to 5G (something predictable and why I'm surprised that Apple included 5G this year at all instead of holding off for a year like they did with 4G) and that's their problem to fix, not Apple's or any other cell phone OEM for that matter.

I've been struggling with the same issue on my iPhone 12 Pro on Verizon on a new SIM card. If the group text includes at least one non-iPhone user, some messages don't come through. It doesn't matter if it's coming via SMS or iMessage. My husband (iPhone XR) is in the same groups and receives all the messages without issue. I've noticed that, many times, images that are texted don't want to come through as well. So I get 6 responses about an image I haven't received! I've toggled things on and off, reset network settings, deleted the groups, etc. to no avail. So yeah, I'm super frustrated.

Upgraded from iPhone 11 Pro to iPhone 12 Pro. Verizon Business Account.

My 11 Pro (which was not experiencing this issue) was on iOS 14 but not 14.1, after setup was complete the 12 Pro was on 14.1.

Could be an issue with 14.1, could be an issue with 5G, could be another hardware issue with the 12s, or carriers are dropping the ball somewhere.

I'm a die-hard apple user, I will always buy the newest 'Pro' version of everything (luckily I have no need for a desktop or I'd be selling my left nut for a Mac Pro). I'm a huge advocate for Apple and all of their practices, so this issue is really ******* me off.

By the way.. I've had icloud for message on and no dice. I did delete all my texts... turn off icloud for messaging and then turned it back on.

So far I saw some texts I was missing come back but still not sure if this fixed my issue or not or if I am still having the issue. Some of the texts I have missed are pretty important and found out via a phone call I didn't get them.
