iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

Since upgrading from my iPhone X to IPhone 12 Pro I’ve noticed in a group text (SMS) that I’m randomly missing texts. My husband is in the group too so I can see I’m missing multiple texts at random. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I have been having the same issue since upgrading, however I have the iPhone 12. My phone also says I have left the conversation on every group text on my phone, which I know is not the case. I've called Apple a few times and they say its just carrier issue. There are posts on MacRumors about this same issue. I do not believe this is a carrier issue if it's happening to multiple people.

I only started experiencing dropped texts once I moved to the 12 Pro, and it only happens in Group threads where at least 1 person is not on an iPhone. The behavior seems random: someone will send several text messages in a row and one of them will randomly never arrive.

I've logged out/back in to iCloud on all devices, disabled/reenabled iMessage & SMS, restarted, etc.... nothing has fixed it.

I am getting the sms messages, just not the notifications that I received them, to me that is a software issue. This started when I downloaded iOS 14.2 beta 3. At first I thought it was my new Apple Watch series 6 that was interfering, so I unpaired it and turned it off. Still did not receive notifications. The only way I receive notifications now for SMS is if both my iPhone and Apple Watch does not have any notifications in notifications center, but again that only works for roughly an hour.

True, but you also have to consider that the user's carrier is not the only variable here...there are 2 phones, and likely 2 carriers, involved in every text message; in group chats, obviously that number is even higher. So the fact that posters here have all different carriers doesn't really matter...it could be one carrier involved in every single group chat.

Also, group SMS has always sucked. I'm in a few larger SMS group chats and texts are often not received by some/all group members. It's been happening forever, and happens on both iOS and Android.

Same happening here to my wife and it seemed to start when she switched to the iPhone 12 pro about a week ago. She missed some messages from her family about her sister who is in the hospital. Also, we are on the same group chat and I am getting messages that she is not. Up until Friday, I was on an 11 pro, now we are both on 12 pro. We are on T-mobile ... it seems that mms from Verizon (non iPhones) are having issues. Not sure if we are missing others.

I had the same experience, my wife was receiving texts in a group we were in with a few individuals who do not have iPhones, and I was not. We have Verizon for our service and I contacted them two separate times. The first rep had me reset network settings and that did not resolve the issue. The second rep I spoke to a few days later seemed to be more knowledgeable about this issue and reviewed my network activity. He determined the “integrative messaging” feature somehow was toggled off on my account. He activated that feature again and it seems to have completely resolved the issue. I even spoke to a 3rd representative because I was a bit worried and they confirmed everything looked good on the network side and even sent me a test SMS. I am receiving all of the group texts for the group I am in with my wife now too. This may solve the issue for Verizon phones? Good luck!

I was also having this issue, checked with Verizon but none of the integrative settings listed were disabled on my device. I also downloaded the Messages+ app and all the missing texts were in that history, so clearly an Apple issue. I compared my General-> Messages settings with my husband’s device that was working without issue and noticed his “Send as SMS” message setting was disabled. I have since disabled on my device and now all group messages have arrived to my device as well as in Messages+. Hoping it stays that way!

Where did you find that option in the messages + app?

Using the Verizon Messages (Message+) app on your

phone, tablet, computer or the web will automatically subscribe you to

the Integrated Messaging service. You can also sign up for Integrated

Messaging on the web by signing in to My Verizon from the My Messaging page and clicking Go to Web App."

I don't think the "send as SMS" setting has anything to do with it. My wife had that setting disabled and was not getting messages - and what's funny is T-mobile support told her to enable it. Both before and after changing the setting she missed messages.

It didn't seem worth bothering to mention to T-mobile support that we weren't having issues sending and that my setting was disabled and I hadn't been seeing the issue. In addition, since these were messages sent via MMS and not imessage, not sure that setting should have any impact.
