I was messaging my wife while her phone was dead and the texts switched to green text. Now that her phone is back on the texts are still sending to her as regular sms and not iMessage. I tried signing in and out of iMessage and it doesn’t work. It’s so annoying and I don’t know how to fix it..

I had to uncheck all the options under Settings>Messages>>Send&receive>Then had to click the blue email at the bottom to completely sign out of iMessage. The aesthetic is so much better with the blue. Not sure if deleting the thread helped trigger it or not but it works now. Cheers.

Delete your iMessage thread with your wife on your device and hers. Power cycle your iPhone, then try sending her another message. As long as her iMessage is activated, it should recognize she is in iMessage.
What happens when you wife texts you? Do her texts come in as SMS or iMessages? You may want to sign out and back into her Messages app as well.

That’s what I was trying to avoid, we did it on both phones and both still text each other green.
We both deleted threads, power cycled phones, and turned iMessage on and off. It’s still green for both. I’m out of ideas. Lol
Glad it all worked out in the end.
