Big surge in Robo call scams saying your iCloud account has been compromised

There are a very large number of scams being attempted via robot calls with spoofed caller ID numbers telling you your iCloud account has been compromised. They are based in the Far East and use western names, and in my particular incident there is a recording that says "Hi. This is Molly from Apple Support. We've noticed your iCloud Account has been compromised. Please press 1 to speak with a Apple Support Agent"

Obviously, Apple doesn't make this kind of call. Secondly, if you had someone using your iCloud account, you'd know about it if you had two factor ID turned on and you'd get a notice in your main email if someone tried to log on to your account (hint hint). Thirdly, you can hear in the background all the other scammers trying to get personal information off of unwitting customers, and Apple call centers are not like that. Chances are if someone has a thick foreign accent and they call themselves "Suzy" or "Alex", you might want to be suspicious. And if the caller ID is from some random person or number you can almost guarantee its a scam. Even them, sophisticated scams can spoof caller ID numbers and say they are from Apple, too, so even that is no guarantee.

Finally, and this goes for every call you ever get, you should NEVER give personal financial or log on credential information to anyone over the phone until you can verify that they are legit. You just won't get Apple calling you asking you for this kind of stuff!!!!

Sadly, the world is rife with scammers, and we all need to be vigilant about this. My neighbor got ripped off for $750 falling for this kind of scam because he likes and trusts Apple. We all do, but we also all need to be sensible when it comes to people calling us asking us for any sensitive information. It just not legit.
