Hi Peter after trying to translate using IOS 14.1 it has not worked since updating from 14.01 so I carried out the latest update to 14.2 my wife said I would only have more problem, having updated TRANSLAT still does not work so Ifixed the problem by downloading the GOGGLE TRNSLATE APP it works a treat, so the APPLE TRANSLATE has gone totally never to be reinstalled.

I have been testing when the app is downloaded it defaults to English us I want to translate to spanish I download Spanish I also download English Uk I then select English Uk input and spanish output. I type an English word it translate to Spanish and give chose of meaning ok

i go to setting scroll down to Translate the default is not to use on board translation ( as so far it has been using my WiFi if I toggle switch to say translate on the iPhone it asks to go to app no matter if I use to go to app right away or close setting and open the app direct from app icon but from then on it will not translate even I go back to setting and scroll down to Translate go into option and change the switch back from translate on phone the app does not translate until app is removed and download it again

The app worked within the phone while the phone was on on 14.01. .as it is the same app on the App Store for either operation system the problem most be with operating system not the app and still works within the phone on my wife’s phone which is still on 14.01 and she now has no desire to change and I am looking at now to revert my phone to the older version

I removed the app and the data file(I assume are the languages.)

Then reinstall app and downloaded languages again. Still problem it appears to work better with mobile data on, but still not as well as it worked on 14.01 before the update to 14.1

Thanks Peter I will have to google and find out if there is anyone out there that has a way to down the iso as waiting for Apple will be like watching paint grow and if they do anything what other new issue or an old issue will appear with the next one most embarrassing as my wife never tries a new release till it has been out long enough for people to have found the problem
