Scanner issues with my HP Printer after a software update

Did an update and now my HP scanner is giving me the following circular message:

HP Easy Scan will damage your computer, you should move it to trash.

HP Easy Scan could not be moved to trash.

can someone help?? I got a similar message for the HP printer and fax functions, however once I deleted the printer/fax and reinstalled the printer worked fine.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your frustration with this issue. It is up to the scanner provider to provide a software update that will work and clearly they haven't done so. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant driver must be installed. Experience has shown that many printer manufacturers are very slow to provide updated drivers. Drivers for some older printers and scanners are never provided. (Apparently, they prefer to sell new ones.) What we can do is to thoroughly check the equipment provider's web site for a compliant driver that works. Sometimes they are not easily found, apparently. If one is not available, then we should ask when one will be released. If not, then you have two other options. Apple's app Image Capture, which you have installed, will usually scan, although it is not a full featured scanner app. You can also download and try the VueScan app for free to see if it works. It is well supported and is a full featured scanner app. I have it and can recommend it. There is a one time charge for it. (I am not associated with VueScan.)

Thank you for the quick response. When this happened about a month ago with the printer driver, this community was quick to respond and provide a working solution and video tutorial on how to actually fix the issue. I am hoping that someone will do the same for this "scanner" issue. I already saw that I am not the only person with this issue.

When I scan, I am using the document feeder. I need an actual working scanner with feeder scanning capabilities. I scan about 15-30 pages per document and it needs to be in both and Mac and PC friendly PDF. Any other type of scan program is not going to be sufficient.

Anything you can do to help resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Clearly, your scanner is critically important to your work. If you can't get a resolution, I would go for the Vue Scan app I mentioned above. You can download it and try it for free to see if it works for you. In the "free" mode it leaves a watermark. When you buy it, that is removed. If I remember, it costs about $90. And they do keep updating the software. That is their only product, I believe.
