My spouse is considering an Apple Watch as a fall detection device, but isn't always able to tolerate the watch on their wrist. If they wear it on a pendant mount will Fall Detection still function?

It sounds like fall detection only works "while you're wearing your watch" according to this:

And I'm 99.9% certain that means while you're wearing it on your wrist as the Watch is away when it's not being "worn". But that would be extremely valuable to someone in your spouse's situation.
