how much heating is for my MacBook acceptable?

My MacBook heats everytime, even at normal browsing or just typing. Is that normal?

Your MacBook Pro can run all day every day at 60 degrees C with no issues whatsoever.

If it heats up to near 100 degrees C, it is in danger of doing an emergency uncontrolled power-down to protect itself from damage.

This is like asking how many oxygen molecules are normal in any given room. Insufficient information.

  1. Core i9 with 64 GB Ram? Or conversely, too many active applications for installed RAM?
  2. Concurrent applications running or open while browsing?
  3. Web site uses considerable SVG graphics in its design that increases GPU vector processing activity (heat)?
  4. What is your definition of normal browsing? Playing audio on the Mac while surfing? Ten browser tabs?
  5. Insufficient ventilation due to soft surface (bed), or other obstructions?
  6. Large file transfer or Time Machine backup?

Run the following command in the Terminal (with return) to see what your current Fan speed, and CPU/GPU temps report:

sudo powermetrics -n1 --samplers smc | grep "(CPU|GPU) die|Fan"

Your password will not echo at the prompt.
