MacBook Pro all files are gone...

My laptop updated and later in the day I logged on as usual and everything was gone. It literally looked like I was opening a brand new computer. No files, docs, photos, nothing. The download app in the dock had a "?" not the usual icon. All of my user profiles are wiped completely clean. I also had never used the time machine feature unfortunately. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what did you do?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps there may be lurking, an older system hiding

that may appear if you re-start with Opt key held? The

choice of another startup version, could appear there.

Without an external USB drive containing Time Machine

backup, to try and restore from; situation may be difficult.

You could be facing a rebuild on top of the wiped drive.

Nothing like 'tarps and 2x4s' on a new hilltop.

Sorry, haven't much experience using my backups so far.

Good luck & happy trails!🌤⛵️
