Duplicate in FCPX QT Player screen capture

Movie film projected is 4:3 and I video it in 1080i. Then I copy it and trim it using Quick Time Player screen capture to get rid of the black borders. How can I keep those new proportions in FCPX? I want to edit away the black borders or "wings".

Make a Custom 4:3 project in FCP that's 1440x1080. Do not use the 1440x1080 preset. Set the spatial conform to fill or use the transform function to trim the pillarboxing.

How do you "trim" it in the QT player?

A way I use now is to make a new screen recording, cropping the video of a film projection that is 4:3, using Quick Time Player, make a photo of the full size video, using Control shift 4, open the photo png in photoshop elements, get the dimension of it, open FCP and create a custom project with those dimensions. Perfect. No distorting. Full resolution. Export stays the same as the crop allowing for full editing.

You are missing: 2011 computer, iMAC, 10.12.06, 4:3 film video, distorted images, lower resolution, black bands, those techniques didn't work, in another thread of mine I described blocking artifacts in video, How about AVCHD, interlaced video, and the fact that FCP and Apple let me down with upgrades. That is when it all stopped working correctly.

How are we supposed to know that unless you tell us? I can’t keep track of what was said in another thread. Did you at any point or thred get to post an Etrecheck report? When things break “after an upgrade” it is sometimes the upgrade but very often it is other stuff, probably old stuff that needs updating or should never be there in the first place. Remember none of us is looking over your shoulder or has access to your mac. We all depend on information to be able to help.

Did you by any
