IOS 14.1 Issues

Just downloaded iOS 14.1 to my iPhone 6s. Text Messages not working properly. Too slow. Sometimes messages don’t open when selected. Sometimes Messages won’t open at all. Was working fine prior to download. How can I fix?

Hello DragonsMan,

Let’s see what we can to do help you out with Messages and get the app back to responding as expected.

Have you tried restarting your iPhone following Restart your iPhone

Do you notice the same when using both Wi-Fi and cellular data?

Do you see any pop-up messages when trying to use the Messages app?

Let us know more if you are still seeing this behavior.

Cheers!

Hi DragonsMan,

Keeping iPhone updated is always the right choice, and iOS 14.1 is compatible with iPhone 6S. Here are a few more suggestions on things you can check:

Go to Settings > General > Date & Time, make sure it’s showing the correct information.

Look at If you can’t send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If either of those don’t have effect on how you are receiving messages, you may want to reach out and contact Apple Support.

Take care!

Thank you Karina184: restart didn't make a difference; same behaviour whether Wi-Fi or Cellular Data; no pop up messages. It does eventually make it to the message list, however when you tap on a specific message, it takes too long to open. Something has definitely happened following the 14.1 iOS installation. It just may be that the 6s is too old/not compatible for the upgrade. If that's the case, what can be done to go back to the previous OS?
