iPad Air 4 Battery Drain

So I’ve been trying for three days to fix this without any joy. I’ve tried deleting procreate, turning off and on, resetting to factory settings and now I’m doing a total wipe and restart.

The battery issue is still a problem, but worse, it won’t turn on unless it’s connected to a charger, regardless of how much battery is left. Not very convenient for a mobile device!

it will be going back as faulty but I’m unsure whether to get another iPad Air or whether to see if I can get a regular iPad (they were all out of stock when I ordered before and I needed it in a hurry to help with home schooling).

I have the same problem. My brand new iPad Air drains its battery in about 2-3 days in standby mode. I have been looking all over the the internet for a solution, but no luck. What I have learned though, is that I am not alone with this issue. It`s extremely frustrating, so much so that I have decided to bring it to Apples attention, by writing this comment. If you knew me, you would understand that this is a big deal. So please Apple, recognize this problem and find a fix.

First I contacted Apple support but they couldn’t do anything. I contacted the authorized service of Apple in Greece and they told me that if there is a replacement, they will give me a refurbished, not a new one! I did not like this because I only had it for 4 days. If it was a sofrware problem, I would pay € 20 without having it repaired.

I reset it and didn’t restore it from any backup, but manually. I have updated it to iPadOS 14.4. I have reset the wi fi settings.

Unfortunately the issue still persists. 😢

Mine was fine initially on 14.2 but now has issues and I can’t seem to roll back. I also have an issue where after a few minutes on sleep it powers itself off and will only turn back on when I plug the charger in, despite having plenty of charge on the battery. I’m returning to the retailer as faulty and will be getting a replacement, if I have the same issue again then I’m going to replace with a regular iPad instead of the air model.

I have tried several times to unsubscribe from this thread with no success. Can someone please explain why and tell me how to do it. I unclick the 'following' button, but it doesn't stay that way and I can't see anywhere to 'save' that selection.

Unfortunately, I have bought it from Germany Apple Store (through the app) via Shop & Ship, if you know, because Apple store doesn’t ship to Greece. So I can’t return it for refund because I must first contact the store directly. I would like to contact them but I can’t find an email, only phone number.

Could someone help me to contact Germany Apple Store via email, maybe I can return it for a refund?

I've only had my iPad Air 4 for around 5 days and the is battery life ridiculous! Apparently one charge a day is supposed to be sufficient enough, but I'm having to charge mine way more, and all I'm using is goodnotes ! Getting an exchange sorted but can't be without a device , you'd-think they'd have something in place for this, very disappointed because I paid a lot of money within my order, I got the 2nd gen pencil, the magic keyboard, Microsoft package, care + and AirPods Pro! I'm horrified

It’s on IpadIOS 14.4 , I had no choice but to install that as part of the set-up.

I thought it was that or Procreate which had caused the issue with my old one, but I’m now convinced it was just faulty, this new one is totally different.

Brand new iPad Air. Used it less than 10 minutes since a month (date of purchase).

Battery goes straight from 100 % (plugged) to 18 % in 6 h with iPad idle, in sleep mode,

just sitting on my desk.

Absurd.

Apple finally has to take responsibility! The description in the photo below is from the Apple Store app.

I have to turn it off, in order to charge it less often, in order to extend the life of the battery !!!

FEB 22. 2021- just purchased a new ipad 4 and battery would drain on stand by with all turned off, wifi and all. called Cust support and asked for an exchange and was told to restore and set up upad manualy and observe... 3 days later still the same. oh god, this is the worse

I have a brand new iPad Air 4 and the battery is draining from 100% to 0% within a day or two with the unit completely powered off. This is much too expensive to have this kind of issue right out of the box, so I think I might end up taking it back.

Apart from the battery issue, a new one appeared ... while it is in use it suddenly turns off and restarts on its own. This issue has occurred on iPadOs 14.4. Does anyone else have the same problem as me? I’m very disappointed !!! 😞

Same thing. I got the ipad air 2020 last week and after 3 days it drained overnight (slept with around 60%). Then it would constantly heat up even when idle. I would put it on airplane mode and it would still die overnight! Im running on the latest OS and its still an issue.

Me as well, when I purchased the iPad Air I expected the battery to be good and lasting up to the 10 hours, I knew about the drainage usage of the Apple Pencil and the magic keyboard, however I was lead to believe it would not drain as fast as it does, I am constantly having to keep it charged, I hope this is just a software problem which can be sorted. As we speak my iPad has dropped from 50% to 47% and it only took me more then 2 minutes to write this. Actually it’s now 46%.
