iTunes doesn't open when iPhone is connected

When I connect my iPhone to my computer, nothing happens. If I want iTunes to open I have to do it manually. iTunes used to open automatically when I connected my iPhone but now it doesn't.

iPhone 8, iOS 14.1

Dell Inspiron 15 3000, Windows 10, iTunes 12.10.10

Please help and TIA!

Hi jdlarkin87,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand iTunes isn’t opening automatically when you plug in your iPhone. We’re happy to help.

We suggest checking to make sure you have this option enabled. You can do so by opening iTunes and then selecting your device in the upper left of iTunes. Then, go to the iPhone Summary page and locate the “Open iTunes when this [device] is connected" option and place a checkmark in the box next to it.

This needs to be done for each device you use with your computer.

We hope this helps.

Take care.
