iPhone 7 audio issues after software update

Since updating to iOS 14.1my iPhone 7 has developed several issues, primarily revolving around the audio systems.

Periodically, I cannot hear anything when I send or receive calls. Nor can whomever I call hear me.

I cannot use my voice record or voice memo apps. It gives me an error message (see attached screenshot)

I cannot use Siri, nor will the Shazam app work properly.

It will work briefly if I do a hard restart - (power plus down volume) but ultimately, it will begin to malfunction within a few hours. I’ve done the hard restart three times today.

I assume it’s a software update issue. None of this was a problem until after the weekend.

Is there a way to undo the update? Wait for the next patch to determine if that will fix it?

Let’s take a look at what’s going on with your iPhone 7 and the audio. Restarting your iPhone is always a great first troubleshooting step. Take a look at your iOS version in Settings > General > About and confirm if you are seeing 14.1 or 14.2. Reverting to a previous iOS is not possible with your iPhone.

Have you tried the steps found in If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker?
Do you have any problems with audio when using EarPods or any other headphones?
When on a call are you able to use the speaker and hear with no problem?

Since I've posted this to the forum, my phone has updated to 14.2, but the issues persist.

Yes, we've tried all of those remedies — restarting,, cleaning out speakers — to no avail. When I plug in headphones, it will not play on the headphones, but will continue playing from the speaker. (If I'm using bluetooth, it plays properly on the bluetooth speaker, but nothing plugged into the port will work.)
