Can't change security questions

I've forgotten the answers to my security questions, and according to Apple Support, I need to go to iforgot.apple.com. I went there, entered my Apple ID, and then it asked me for what I wanted to do, so I clicked on the radio button for "I forgot my security questions", then I had to enter my password. After that, it didn't ask me any more questions like I expected it to, it just showed a page saying "Not sufficient information to change security questions".

I want to change my security questions because I have forgotten them, and I'm afraid if I can't answer them, then I can't use features like two-factor authentication in the future. Has anybody else seen this issue, and do you think you have a solution?

P.S. I just want to mention that I don't have any Apple devices at all yet, but I will in the future. Also if it helps, I was using the latest Firefox on the latest Linux Mint 20 when I encountered this problem. It occurred both in InPrivate mode and in regular browsing.

You need correct answers for respective questions to reset the password that you don't remember , iforgot.apple.com is a link to reset the password but it doesn't convert the secondary authentication account to 2FA .

Two factor authentication account is created by sign in with any apple device iPhone / Mac / iPad and not from window computers , if you don't remember the secondary authentication account credentials and you had only the Apple ID address , that is useless ( at least a an apple device is required from where the account was created ) .

The apple address resides on cloud server .

So in your case purchase a new apple device , create an Apple ID ( that is personal agenda ) , but that is sure your previous Apple ID address is of no use , even you contact apple support they don't keep records for answers for security questions , the first question asked by them will be your device serial number , Apple ID address you will not get help from them as device is not in your possession .

If you have incorrect credentials for secondary authentication account the Apple ID can't be signed in , only keeping records of Apple ID address is not sufficient , you need an iPhone / Mac / iPad in which Apple ID is to be signed in so that the secondary authentication account can be converted into 2FA .

Note : the secondary authentication account and 2FA accounts are created by apple and are only compatible with apple products and not with linux / window computers .

So, does this mean I can only answer the security questions on an Apple device, or is that only for using 2FA? I'm only looking to change my security questions right now.

Also, I tried going through the same procedure I listed above at iforgot.apple.com, but after the password, it asked me for the answer to one of my security questions, which I still don't even remember! Is that supposed to happen?

I'm still confused. tygb, I'm assuming you mean an Apple device is needed for 2FA, but I'm not looking to use 2FA right now. Also, I don't want to change my password, I want to change my security questions. After entering my Apple ID on iforgot.apple.com, it shows me two options saying "I need to reset my password" and "I need to reset my security questions". I choose the latter option, press Continue, enter my password, and then it says "Not sufficient information" immediately afterwards, or makes me answer one of the same security questions that I want to reset. I know this is basically what I said before, sorry if there's something I don't understand...

Also, Niel, sorry I looked past your post, I'll try those options right now :)

Thanks, both of you. I used Neil's suggestion to contact Apple Support, and the person I was on the line with explained to me what I believe tygb was trying to tell me: I can't reset my security questions unless I'm on an already-signed-in Apple device. Looks like I'll need a new Apple ID... :(
