OK, I get it! We need the huge, annoying, large blue circle in Maps. We also need the associated services like Location, time, GPS, blah-blah. We need the ability to diminish the opaqueness or darkness of the silly thing. Is there a way? Thank you.

Where are you seeing this blue circle? Can you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing?
I get nothing like that in Maps:

A simple Google search found the answer: It's the area of uncertainty in determining your precise location.

If your location can't be determined precisely, you'll see a blue circle around the marker. The size of the circleshows how precisely your location can be determined—the smaller the circle, the greater the precision.
Apparently the circle can be removed on iPhones but don't think there's a similar method for the Maps app on a Mac.
Are you referring to the small, opaque blue dot, with a relatively thin white ring around it?
Or are you referring to the semitransparent, potentially larger, blue circular region that shows the region of uncertainty of your location, especially when using a device without GPS capability?

I don't need it, it is in my way and it would be nice to have the option of dictating it's presence.
Like I wrote, rwscalif, the more specific Feedback would be to go though the Maps -> Report an Issue… menu item.
Complaining here, in a user-to-user community support forum, will accomplish nothing constructive.
Incidentally, rwscalif, even despite the large size of the uncertainty circle, that circle doesn’t even overlap the actual location of my Mac mini (which has no GPS hardware, of course).
So. If your actual location is very close to the center of the uncertainty circle, consider yourself lucky!
