Apple Maps

Is anyone else having memory issues with Apple Maps? I have an 11max and after installing iOS 14, I’ve had a huge surge in storage usage for maps. It used to be a negligible 500mb or so, but now it’s grown to 11gb, and maybe 2 weeks ago it was 10gb so it’s growing by the week. Looking for a fix if possible. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Hi TIRojas,

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities! Storage management is definitely important, and we see you've found that Apple Maps is using a significant amount of storage. We'd like to see how we can help out.

To double-check, you deleted the app entirely and reinstalled it and still see that it's using around 10 GB of storage, correct?

Try tapping Settings > [name] > iCloud, and scroll down toward the bottom. Is Maps turned on there by any chance? When you delete the Apple Maps app, it will delete any data from the device, but it would remain in iCloud, so that may explain what happened when you reinstalled it.

Let us know what you find! If that doesn't seem to help, be sure to include your current iOS version from Settings > General > About.

Have a good day.
