Hello. I have just received my homepod mini and am having the same issue. I set it up using my iphone and cannot toggle anything other than "never" as described above. I can make a different selection on my Ipad. I have checked all devices are uptodate. I have never used Apple "Home" before and the homepod is the only device in the "home".

Hello AustinGMS,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with using your HomePod as an intercom.

1. Please ensure you have everything set up as shown here: Use HomePod as an intercom - Apple Support

2. If you still need help, please update to iPadoS 14.2 or later, watchOS 7.1 or later and HomePod SW 14.2 or later

3. Next, please check these settings and understand these features about how intercom should work:

• Intercom is like sending audio messages back and forth; it's not an open mic between two two devices like walkie talkies

• Two HomePods set as a stereo pair or in the same room are considered a single destination for Intercom

• Intercom is not available for tvOS

• Intercom through Bluetooth accessories only works with AirPods and compatible Beats headphones.

4. Please confirm that your intercom settings match the settings in the Home app > Home icon (top left) > Home Settings > Intercom.

5. Confirm the source and destination HomePods are assigned to different rooms in the Home.

5. Confirm all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

• If the Wi-Fi network has multiple access points/nodes, connect both HomePods to the same AP/node.

• Some routers broadcast two networks (two SSIDs) -- one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz. Devices should be connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network name.

• Follow Networking: Connectivity issues caused by third-party VPN or security software to check for and remove VPN or security software.

6. Also confirm Listen for Hey Siri is enabled: How 'Hey Siri' works with multiple devices - Apple Support

7. Restart the HomePods, iOS and watchOS devices, and the Wi-Fi network.

8. Make sure the HomePods don't show No Response in the Home app. (Confirm with the HomePod isn't responding article above.)

9. Test with a known good Intercom message, such as:

• "Hey Siri, intercom ‘It’s time to wake up.’"

• "Hey Siri, ask everyone ‘Has the dog been fed?’"

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
