Catalina 10.15.7 update - Keyboard backlight and brightness keys not working

Keyboard backlight is not illuminating. Checked keyboard settings and "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" is ticked. Also, brightness keys indicate display brightness increase/decrease but don't see the effect on display (However display brightness increases/decreases when changed on Settings). I've done SMC reset but it doesn't change anything.
