installing watchOS 7.1

My Apple Watch will not upgrade to the iOS 7.1. It says I’m not connected to the internet but I definitely am. I’ve tried so many times and even reset the watch entirely but now I can’t even use the watch without the update at all. If I can just reset it so I can use it I would be fine without the update but I need to know how to bypass the update when resetting the watch. Very frustrating

The release candidate for iOS 14.3 is now available to beta testers. Expect general release Monday December 14th together with watchOS 7.2 primarily to add Fitness+, another revenue source for Apple. Those releases will solve the problem.

I have the same problem with my series 3. It has been happening all year since OS 7. Now it is stuck trying to update to 7.2. When there's free space, it goes all the way to "Preparing...", then gives an error like "not connected to the internet". After that, my watch has less than 2.5GB of free space, then the error is about not enough free space to update. I unpair, the Watch restarts with 3 GB of free space. I try the update again, restarting the cycle of error messages... there's no way of updating. It's so frustrating.

Exact same problem here. AW3 and iPhone 11 and I have tried numerous ways to update but it eventually says I’m not connected to a network. I’ve given up trying to update it.

Well, well. Put watch on beta program, surprise, surprise. Phone on 14.3 beta 2, watch updated no problem, now on beta 7.2. Solution for those willing to go with beta program !!!
