Old iPad iOS 5.1.1 Apple sign in impossible

Hey all.

I have an old Ipad running iOS 5.1.1

I recently factory reset the device and now cannot sign in with my apple id at all.

I have spent days of searching through forums and posts for a solution, but alas, cannot find a working sution.

So, i enter my apple Id and password, then a pop up opens up saying enter password again with the 2step verification code after the password....

I have tried this over a 100 times and i always get an error saying username and or password is incorrect.

Lets say my password is 123456 and the code is 665123, then i enter the password , after the initial pop up, as follows: 123456665123 and submit, this results in above error dislaying.

Can someone please help me, i am not throwing away this device for an issue like this.

If this helps, when i open safari, most of the websites will load, except icloud.com

This webpage starts to load, but then causes the browser to completely freeze...and just hangs. Just note that i can open this site on my mobile phone without any issues , being on the same wifi network..

I'm busy loosing my hair over this issue.

Thank you and i hope someone can save my sanity here with a solution.. solution not being, use the ipad as a door stopper ,😆

Sometimes it takes more than 24 hours to get an answer as we don't spend all our time on the forums, its user to user and we aren't exactly paid for it. But your answer can be found in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204915#FAQ.

More specifically "What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field."

Before you attempt to even sign into an old device you need to generate the code and end it to the end of your password. So on your compatible 2factor device go to SETTINGS > ACCOUNT > PASSWORD & SECURITY > GET VERIFICATION CODE. Take the code generated there and attempt to log in.
