i have tried , restarting a couple times ( also in safe modus) and resetting nvram ,

i doesnt solve the issue .

when starting the mac today the screen started going off en on in intervals 3 seconds. And cound’t move the cursor.

restarted again and now it flashes just 1 time in the middle of the loading bar with still a stripe in the middle.

i have tried reconnecting alL the wires And the display Normally works perfectly . I have the latest catalina update .

i noticed a few people have had the same issue with mac mini Here.

Hello den.Thed, and others,

i tried several usb-c cables/adapters. That i found recommended on the internet ,

and the last one ,after a bit of struggle, works fine. its the Club-3d usb-c to dvi-d dual link CAC1510 A with HDCP OFF.

this one works with the mac mini 2018 and Apple HD cinema display 23” with dvi connector.

the struggle was beeing not able to see anything on the display with wrong adapters and thus turning the mac forced off and Afterwards it would not boot properly And thus not beeing able to work with the new adapter,

had to couple with hdmi to television , resolve issues and after booting right it would work nicely with the new adapter.

hope this helps someone 🙂

thanks for your help and advice

greets
