iPhone 8 won't charge and screen shows charging cable, lightning bolt and battery with red on L side. Only stays on for about 10 seconds then dies. Bought a new charging cable and no difference. Now what?

Ya might be battery fault or Tristar charge chip, but I’d personally restore it through iTunes first
press the volume up then the down and hold in lock at the same time to force reboot it hold for about 10 seconds till Apple logo appears , if still not working, try different charger. If still not working restore on iTunes dfu mode. You will lose your data if not backed up.
older iPhones, hold in lock and home button till it reboots.
